A Capital Campaign for the

Merrill History & Cultural Center

This is a $1 million capital campaign to create a new community resource, expand program capabilities, and consolidate operations and services.

We welcome your participation in the capital campaign as we address the future of the Merrill Historical Society’s role in the life of the Merrill Area Community.

Imagine a place where you can spend the day exploring treasures from the past; researching the history of your family, home and community; enjoying the creativity of local artists and musicians —and developing a true “sense of place” for you and your family.

Join us in creating an exciting new “identity”  for the Historical Society.

What is gained by the creation of a new Merrill History & Cultural Center

· 4,000 square feet

· Flexible museum space in which to display our extensive collection of local history artifacts

· Environmental controls to protect and preserve the Historical Society’s valuable collections

· Green building technologies and energy efficiencies to help with costs and maintenance

· An elevator to make all facilities accessible, including the adjoining Heritage Wing

The Library

· Inviting library space for genealogical and historical research

The Pinery

· Rustic interior, featuring open-beam construction, will evoke the feel of the early timber and wood products era and relate that history to the continuing economic legacy of those industries in our community

  In the Heritage Wing:

· Flexible use of the Upper & Lower Levels

· Table and chair placement adaptable to accommodate school classes, programs or organization meetings

· Opportunities to show temporary and traveling exhibits, including local artists and small musical group performances

· A small workroom & warming kitchen located by the elevator for access to either building

The Merrill HIstorical Society believes that the creation of the Merrill History & Cultural Center will give the community a new resource that will enhance our economic future and show the pride we have in our community.
